In a landmark move for environmental protection and public health, the Government of Punjab has officially extended the deadline for free vehicle emissions testing to August 31, 2025. This initiative is spearheaded by the Environment Protection Department (EPA) and is part of a broader effort to fight smog, improve air quality, and encourage the use of environment-friendly vehicles across the province.
This policy directly impacts millions of vehicle owners, especially in major cities like Lahore, where air pollution levels are among the highest in the country.
Smog and vehicle emissions contribute heavily to respiratory issues, eye infections, and long-term health complications. With this initiative, Punjab aims to:
Reduce smog and pollution
Encourage vehicle maintenance and eco-conscious driving
Enforce environmental regulations in a user-friendly, free-of-cost manner
Not every vehicle is required to undergo testing. Here’s a breakdown:
Cars and Light Transport Vehicles (LTVs) manufactured in 2022 or later
Any vehicle less than 3 years old
These vehicles are not required to undergo emissions testing and do not need a green QR sticker.

Cars manufactured before 2022
Rickshaws
Vans
Commercial vehicles
Pickups and small trucks

Ban on entering motorways without a green sticker
Possible registration issues for untested vehicles
Avoid the last-minute rush near deadline days
